I was 10 years old when I migrated to United States. My parents and I stepped out of the airplane with $100 in our pocket, on a foreign land, without any knowledge of the English language. For months my parents struggled to support and provide for our family. I remember we used to go out to dinner to McDonald's, thinking it was the most glamorous place ever - we got to eat! Years have gone by and often I think about how my life started in this country. My parents did not have an extra dime to spend, meaning buying me clothes from a thrift store, was the best they could do for me. As a grown-up now I understand how difficult it was for my parents, who had very little money. I know there are many people who would love to have a big, glamorous wedding, but they just can't afford to spend between $500-$1,000 on a wedding cake, and that is why I started this company.

You can rent a tuxedo, a bridal gown and a limo, why not a CAKE?

The idea is to have an elegant, multi-tiered pretend cake for show while serving guests pieces from a sheet cake. The cake has a secret spot reserved for a slice of real cake to be shared by the bride and groom during the cake cutting ceremony. The cake is covered in fondant and royal icing is used for decorations. Fake cakes aren't new but renting them is fairly novel. So when brides are desperate and need something at the last minute, they can turn to Atlanta Cake Rental.

Why on earth would one choose a fake cake over the real deal? There several reasons to consider this non-traditional idea:

Budget -- Dreaming of a seven-tier cake but have more of a snickerdoodle budget? A styrofoam cake might allow you to have the look you love while staying under budget.

Number of guests -- Is it hard to imagine your reception without a five-foot cake at the center, even though you know you'll only need a small cake to feed your 25 guests? If you purchase a large, beautiful cake, and feed your 25 guests, the rest will be wasted, but with a fake cake, you can't go wrong.

Time -- Baking a cake doesn't take all that long, but baking all the layers of a wedding cake and then decorating it is incredibly time-consuming. A premade artificial cake can be picked up and used immediately -- little or no planning necessary.
